Check out StudentsOfTheWorld

This is a website and blogspot that has been developed for children around the world to develop pen-pal relations ships and more. I like this website because students not only can find a pen-pal, they can see others their age from around the world, they can exchange culture knowledge in much more real world way, improve their understanding of life in other countries from the people who live there, and of course build an interest in our world in doing all of these things. It makes World Geography fun rather than a task they most complete.

Check out MyWonderfulWorld

This site is supported by National Geographic and its campaign to give students the power of world geographic knowledge through news and notes from contributors from around the world. I especially like the “Five for Friday’s” blog entries. Here I found interesting tech info for my classroom and for our world; facts about the World Cup soccer tournament; interesting places to view fireworks over the Fourth of July holiday; and relevant environmental topics such as five ways to reduce water usage.

Check out WorldGeoBlog

...a note and YouTube video says it all about this site…”The world is Just Awesome!”

This site is a great place to see how exciting Geography is. This site makes geography fun through discussions about everything from iPhone apps to the TV show LOST, and everything in between like Somaliland following the lead of Kosovo in their search for independence, and the question: “What makes a country a country?” It is challenging to find geography is important and interesting but here you can get the feel for geography in action and experience a wide variety of topics that geography can cover, all through the author Matt Rosenberg.
